Although, many parents focus more of their attention on their children’s grades and extracurricular activities, such as by making sure kids study, do their homework, and get to soccer practice or dance lessons and all. But all too often, we forget to put time and effort into nurturing other components of the child’s success and development.

There is no such thing as loving your child too much. Loving them cannot spoil them, the love creates the bond which enables them to talk to you about anything bothering them.

Loving your child can be as simple as giving them hugs, spending time with them and listening to whatever they have to say, playing with them etc.

Never push away your children with your hands all in the name of discipline. When it’s time for discipline, you do that but the love must always be there, remember that they are still growing and the love is all they need right now.

As you encourage positive behavior from your child, do well to caution them from bad behaviors, tell them what bad behavior is such as gossiping, getting angry, bullying etc. and give them ways to avoid such situations.

While we hear stories of kids engaging in bad behavior, the truth is that many kids quietly perform good deeds in the ordinary course of their lives, whether it’s making a friend feel better, having fun or basically just doing anything that makes them happy, but due to bad influence, they get carried away and start following the bad trend but cautioning them from onset helps them to control themselves.

Teaching your child how to be grateful and how to express that gratitude is a key component of raising a good child. Whether it’s for a meal you’ve prepared for dinner or a gift from their siblings, teach them to say thank you, once they are trained to be grateful from their toddler age, it will become part of them, remember the act gratitude makes way for people.

Families that celebrate small and big wins together tends to encourage each other. The celebrations can be as simple as eating out, going to the beach, or even throw an elaborate party.

Happy families lead to happy children, make it a point to celebrate as a family as often as you can, because your children are watching and learning from you.
